Slate Mate

The small organizer for the clapper pen, gaffer clip, and cleaning felt.

On set, this trio is often simply held together with tape. It kind of works. But it quickly looks like "we'll make it nice later" – and later, of course, never comes. The Slate Mate replaces this tape solution with three flexible TPU covers that neatly connect the clapper pen, gaffer clip, and cleaning felt.

This keeps everything together, readily accessible, and doesn't have to be reassembled, taped, or improvised before every take.

The TPU parts fit snugly on the accessories and ensure that the gaffer clamp doesn't scratch sensitive surfaces, pant pockets, or the clapper with its teeth.

What’s in the box?

The small set consists of a gaffer clamp, a soft jaw, and two rubber rings specifically designed for the Slate Mate.

One ring and the soft jaw are mounted on the gaffer clamp. The second ring with cleaning felt goes on the clapper pen. Then everything is pushed together – and the Slate Mate is ready.

The sets with pens already come fully assembled. Not because it's necessary – but because I enjoy assembling them.

Quick Tip

Has the cleaning felt absorbed so much ink that it no longer erases cleanly? Then it doesn't need to be replaced immediately.

Carefully cut off the discolored top layer with a sharp knife – fresh felt will reappear underneath.
